Guinea pig nose bleed

Q. one of my children's guinea pigs has just had a nose bleed. There is no sign of a cut. I found quite a few spots of blood around the cage but don't know how long it lasted. A small clot passed and then it stopped. He seems otherwise unaffected and is eating as usual. Should I take him to the vet? Many thanks

Dear Elizabeth,

This email service is a 24hr response time so for any sudden concerns unfortunately we cannot guarantee an instant response. I hope your childs guinea pig is ok now. He may have knocked his nose or there could be a respiratory problem going on here. I would suggest that if he is in any way unwell or the bleeding persists then you should get him seen.
