Hamster health - discharge

Q. my female hamster has a reddish brownish fluid coming out of her bottom I am worried about what it is. I did try to mate her recently could it be because she is pregnant. if not what is wrong with her. ps if she is not pregnant how do i go about breeding her thanks

She could have a urinary or uterine infection, I would not expect her to have such a discharge if she was pregnant. I would recommend you get her seen by a vet to check her over.

Breeding her may be difficultas it depends if she will accept a male as they can be quite solitary animals. Firstly get her examined to check she is in good physical health before deciding about mating her.
