Rescue Rabbit Issues

Q. I HAVE JUST OBTAINED A RESCUE RABBIT. She is 18 months old and a bit lethargic. She seems to have runner ceacum in small little soft clumps Her normal poo looks healthy but she doesn't eat much and drinks gallons. What do you suggest I do please. I have just switched her from Peter Rabbit to Excel over the last 4 weeks since I've had her I wondered if she has coccidiosis. I have just heard of this disease. Thank you. barb

I would suggest you have your rabbit examined by a vet. I would recommend you tell your vet exactly what you have said to us. Excel is a good rabbit food and she should certainly be getting all the nutrients she needs from this as long as she is getting plenty of hay also. There could be numerous causes of these clinical signs and yes, coccidiosis could be a cause. Either way a check over by a vet and possibly blood and stools testing may be recommended.
